in the 1500's houses had thatched roofs --- thick straw piled high, with no wood underneath. It was the only place for animals to get warm, so all the dogs, cats and other small animals (mice, bugs) lived in the roof. When it rained it became slippery and sometimes the animals would slip and fall off the roof. Hence the saying "It's raining cats and dogs."
In the olden times, most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May and still smelled pretty good by June. However, they were starting to smell so brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odor. Hence the custom today of carrying a bouquet when getting married.

There has been recent developments in terms of biomechanics and prosthetics, but it's still a far cry from actually being able to replace a human limb like that of Elric of Full Metal Alchemist.

ive been studying biomedical electronics and they seems to havent making SUMTHING AS GOOD AS THE HUMAN LEG. ive read that its too complicated of a design, asimo by honda said to have come close but man look at it wiggle.
prostethics is a good thing but not half as good as the real one..hmm, maybe its just not right to remake sumthing of such a grand design like a human body.
oh there will be.I'm always go to japanese websites about this biotechnology along with stem cell research and they keep a mum about it until now for i'm sure Americans wanted that piece of breakthrough like they created 3G phones as early as 1997 and hybrid cars as of 2000.

It used to be that England is old and small and the local folks started running out of places to bury people. So they would dig up coffins and would take the bones to a "bone-house" and reuse the grave. When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realized they had been burying people alive. So they thought they would tie a string on the wrist of the corpse, lead it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell. Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night (the "graveyard shift") to listen for the bell; thus, someone could be "saved by the bell" or was considered a "dead ringer."
One of the most unusual sound in human language may be found in the dialect of Khoin-Khoin tribe of South Africa. The language consists of harsh, staccato clicks, clacks, and kissing sounds. These sounds are made by the tongue, similar to the way we say "tsk, tsk". What makes the language truly distinct is that it is spoken by breathing in rather than out.
Filipinos of yesteryears used the language of leaves in expressing love or rejection: singkamas ("you've captured my heart"); cadena de amor ("I'm yours"); chico ("let's be friends"); alibangbang ("I need you"); adelfa ("please forgive me"); dama de noche ("you are provocative"); upo ("I do not love you")
