Actually, I find this issue about Political Dynasties unfair. The way I see it, if two, three, four, or more people from a certain family are qualified and deserving to hold public office, then they have every right to run. I'd rather have a qualified family than one idiot.
Of course, having that many people from one family hold positions in government is always scary, that's why it's still up to the general public to vote wisely and to guard those votes.
I have nothing against relatives of politicians running for office as long as they're doing a good job and keep clean. I am against those who make politics a family business for the money and perks in the job

I agree. The thoughts of calling the pacman, as Congressman Pacquiao makes you want to hide under the bed for at least 3 years. Then again ndi lang naman siya ang pinakanakakatakot na celebrity/infamous person na tumatakbo ngayon.

The way I see it, para lang di masayang yung stint nya sa congress, he should play to his strengths. He could start sports camps, and athletics-based outreach programs for the unprivileged. I'm hoping that he's really a good-hearted man. That alone may give him a decent stint in congress.
While I do trust the Paqman and his somewhat naive intentions for running, I think he will lose by a close fight to reelectionist Darlene Custodio. She is intelligent, has the looks and is with the Opposition.

A shallow comparison, Naja2. Has Sandara ever brought the country to a standstill? The fact is, whether we like it or not, Pacquiao really does bring the country together every time he boxes. Nobody, nobody, else has that power.
(Don't anybody dare give me crap like "I hate boxing", "I didn't feel a thing", and all that. You all know what I'm talking about.)
Will he make a good congressman? I seriously doubt it. Still, since it looks like he's going to win, it may be more constructive for him to think about how he can best utilize his political position.
Well, there's always the off-chance that he's going to lose. Who knows?
Yes, Sangs, the government will have another puppet if he wins. Everybody is a puppet, when you think about it. We're all being used for leverage. Deal with it.
Ultimately, I like your stand, s2chard. God always has the final say.
The karaoke brawl was 3-4 years ago, and unfortuantely it was downplayed by the media.
Sandara didn't have the capability to reduce traffic for at least 3-4 hours, unlike Pacman whenever he has a fight scheduled. And besides, Sandara was never a star nor could she be considered a celebrity. (Yes, I don't like Sandara; never has and never will. )
It's up to the voters of Gen-San if Pacquiao wins this election. He could concentrate on bringing more funds to sports; or have training camps/school for sports like the one in China.

kung di ka nga naman kilala, sino boboto sa iyo? So Popularity has a lot to do with someone winning. Kahit sa US, mas maraming alam ang mga tao sa showbiz kaysa sa politics. So isipin mo lang dito sa pinas...kaya maraming nananalo na artistang kandidato.
we had a discussion before in the artists' den mailing list whether Satire is protected under freedom of speech. Sedition (incitement of discontent or rebellion against a government; any action, esp. in speech or writing, promoting such discontent or rebellion; Archaic. rebellious disorder.) So if your work directly tells, encourages people to rebel or tells an indiviadual in power to get out or step down, that's Sedition and you could be charged with Treason (Treason, sedition mean disloyalty or treachery to one's country or its government. Treason is any attempt to overthrow the government or impair the well-being of a state to which one owes allegiance; the crime of giving aid or comfort to the enemies of one's government. Sedition is any act, writing, speech, etc., directed unlawfully against state authority, the government, or constitution, or calculated to bring it into contempt or to incite others to hostility, ill will or disaffection; it does not amount to treason and therefore is not a capital offense.)
Now, my question is: can the Genuine Opposition be charged of Sedition because of their ad that says "Isang boto Laban sa Nakaupo"?
The Go's new ad that uses all the candidates initials form something with the word "Revolt"..Pro Revolt nga ba? anyway, i don't really like the idea of them advertising much on them being so against the administration, but they are (after all) the Opposition.
