When I finally understood the lyrics to this song, it...it touched me.

the reason why i liked this song:

Was because I heard the DJ at K-Lite say that this is a song of a remorseful father to his son. The song gained a whole new meaning for me from that moment on.

hmm... if you put it that way..


actually, all songs are open to different interpretations.. it may be similar or different to what the composer initially meant, but to each one of us who hears it, its meaning changes.. angel, by the corrs in their latest album is dedicated to their mom who just passed away, but when you listen to the song.. sometimes it doesn't sound like it.. unless you really listen hard to it.. =)

What makes a song or any art for that matter great, is that it is open to various interpretations & it's universal. It doesn't have to be that specific. The great works of art usually fall into this category.

The lyrics are meaningful for those lovers/ people inlove.  Living for anyone, or changing yourself for anyone, is not always a good thing.  One should live independently, or should live for oneself.  I'm not saying that a man is an island.  What I'm saying is, the will to live or to change for the better should always be within us. Otherwise, if the person who is "The Reason" why you are alive is suddenly taken away from you, or suddenly decided to not be with you anymore, then you are left with nothing.  Where would be your will to live now or your reason to change for the better?


Sure, it's always nice to have an inspiration, but live for yourself.  Strive to be happy.  Strive to make yourself happy.  Happiness or the reason should always be within oneself.  That way, whatever happens and wherever you go, you always have a reason.


That philosophy doesn't sell a lot of cd's though

Ah, but what happens if said person doesn't find himself worth being happy for? Doesn't it take another person, another viewpoint, to show him the way?

Love is overrated.  If you think that love will give you all the answers to your questions, or will show you the way, then that is the wrong reason for you to fall inlove. That is my opinion.  Life should be lived and enjoyed.  Oneself should be cherished and treasured.


Do not take anything or anyone for granted.


If you say that when oneself fails to find a reason to be happy about within him, maybe that person should look deep, deep within him and ask himself why he made that conclusion.  Define worthiness.


Love should just be the icing on the cake.  Life is the cake, eat it up.  And when love comes, it's just a bonus. 


If there's one thing that I learned about love, love will come to you in unexpected ways.  When you stop seeking for it, it will come.  Otherwise if your life is consumed by the idea of love, one can never really feel what it's all about.  One can mistake dependency for love.  One can mistake jealousy for love.  Losing oneself's individuality can be mistaken for love...  etc...


Do not spend every waking moment thinking/ seeking love.  It comes in unexpected moments.  And when it does, you'll know.  And for now, be happy.  A happy person is more attractive/lovable...
