this thread is about the da vinci code so im going to rant about the da vinci code...
my mind is still reeling from having read the book.. i started 245pm wed, and i finsihed 330am, thurs. i couldn't put the book down! of course i would have finished sooner if i read non-stop, but i had a lot of interruptions..
back to the book.. wow! really... wow... the plot was a lethal combination for me.. suspense with a lot of 'detective' work.. intrigue... mysteries.. france, its sites, language, etc.. art.. (i really appreciate what my HUM II professor taught us).. all the mind games and codes really got to me.. i had to admit that i wasnt good at anagrams but the numbers, i love. phi, divine proportion.. fibonacci sequence.. i just love numbers..
oh, and i got so excited when i was able to recognize the text beneath the inlaid rose of the box.. i recognized the reverse handwriting of the first word "scroll" and immediately got a mirror.. i know, it sounds mababaw and childish.. but i really got excited because i love solving puzzles, though i do not come close to the characters of neveu and langdon..
the setting of the story, france.. is a country i would like to visit someday to see the numerous historical and majestic sites that were graphically and precisely described by the author.. im takin up french 11 this sem and im happy to know that i am studying my lessons well..
the startling and very controversial ideas the book expounded about the catholic church and of christ.. well, i still don't know what to make of it.. i've heard stories about it, but this is the first time i've really read and analyzed it.. kahit na fiction pa sya.. as for the truth.. '"there are always two sides of a coin"
haay.. its almost 430 am and yet, im still wide awake. maybe i'll reread the book again later..
if this is what i should expect from dan brown's other works, i can't wait to get my hands on them..

Yep! I couldnt agree more. Girl power rules!!!!
Since most of the people here in this thread had been blown away by the sheer genius of Dan Brown. Why dont you go to www.danbrown.com and play detective. There's a mini mystery game in there. Also, portraits and other places described by the author are posted there. So you can see for yourself what he is talking about. Enjoy the site!

wow.. thanks so much.. just say the time and place most convenient for you, i'll be there.. thanks uli!
marami kong nabasang review about da vinci code na ang daming misleading information dun. ang hirap din kasing malaman aling yung fact and alin yung fiction. but i love the book! hindi boring, unlike some of the novels i've read na may holy grail din.

you have read dvc right? dan brown stated in the beginning that all artistic descriptions are accurate, and that opus dei and the brotherhood are actual organizations.. as to the org's purpose, mission and objectives, ah.. we can't exactly say.. dan brown was so good that it was indeed difficult to draw the line between truth and fiction... the book is not anti-God, if that's what you have read.. for me, it's more like a 'historical' novel set in modern times.. we can't be really sure of our history, of what happened in the past, unless we were there to actually experience it.. just look at our philippine history books.. is that really OUR history? or is it philippine history as the authors (mostly foreigners) saw it? people have a way of messing up with history and facts by imposing their ideas on others as the truth.. it's up to us to pick the remnants of truth.. and use these knowledge as weapons in our day to day lives and our future..
i believe that somebody here promised to lend me their digital fortress.. im still waiting..
add ko lang. may dalawang librong ni release si dan brown. unfortunately nalimutan ko yung title. siguradong pakalat-kalat lang yan sa national so i think madaling hanapin. yun lang po...
