You know. I really appreciate deep, sensible, intellectual questions such as these. It renews my fate on the human race.

If you will become a cheese, what type of cheese will you be and why?

I'm tempted not to answer this because this question is just plain silly. But, for the heck of it, Brie. Hard on the outside, soft on the inside.

If Freddie Mercury visited you in one night (as a spirit), what will you do?  what will you ask?

"What the f**k are you doing in my room?"

And with that, THANK YOU for taking the time to "grill" me.

Porky, I believe it's the Fifty-Peso Ninja's turn.

Well, allow me to go first.

- I'll get this question out of the way... Why "Fifty Peso Ninja"?
- How long have you been doing that character? Any plans to expand the scope (books, merch, etc)
- Are you a full-time artist? if not, what else do you do?
- If you had to hook up with someone from Artist's Den, who would it be?

That's it for now...unless you want to answer the cheese question, too. Argh.

Uhm, if we're going to consider active members, that would leave Ariel, Yamiyo, and Sandy for him to choose from since syeri and jon, L and I are already taken. :p

NINJA! WHERE ARE YOU???

Hey Porky! Thank you for the wonderful introduction! :)

1. A long, long time ago, there was nothing and then the Bearded Guy In The Sky said, "This is so friggin' boring!" And then the univerese was born from that divine boredom. Following the creation of the universe, flowers, antelopes, guinea pigs and guyabano fruits appeared. There was peace, harmony and luncheon meat at that time. Everything was dandy...

Unfortunately, what I just said had nothing to do with the first question. Here's the real answer.

I've always been a fan of martial arts stories and I thought that it would be cool to imagine myself (or at least an alter-ego) as a martial arts hero like the ones in the movies. I've noticed that there are hardly any martial arts heroes in the Philippines so I said "What the hell, I'll make my own." Enter the Fifty-Peso Ninja. The Fifty-Peso Ninja was a combination of me, Stephen Chow, Zatoichi, Sammo Hung and the A-Team. I added the fifty peso part because I wanted him to be a mercenary for the masses, someone who makes a living while fighting for the underdog. I believe he was the perfect hero for the average Filipino especially in a world full of crime and corruption.

2. It's been two years since I've conceived FPN. I'm planning to have the first FPN story arc (the Malvado Group arc) as a graphic novel. I also want to see FPN on T-shirts, as plushies, on mugs, vibrators (just like Hello Kitty!), etc. After all, most of the money comes from merchandise.

3. I'm a full-time cartoonist and a part-time wandering fortune-teller. Right now, I'm planing a small business of my own and no it doesn't involve stealth and ass-kicking.

On the other hand, I'm very confident that I'll make it really big in comics and maybe I don't need a business.

4. Well currently I'm trying to get some girl's attention. She's not an Artist's Den member but she is an artist. If I don't bag her, ah well, I'm in no hurry. :)

But if you insist to know which A-Den member I would hook up with, it would most likely be me. What can I say? I love myself!

- Yes. I'm still single. Huhuhuhu...

- Mang Jose: he charges waaaay too much.
Captain Barbell: I like him in the Herbert Bautista version. I mean, dude! What's with the Superman/Smallville rip-off on channel 7!? Totally uncool...,
Super Inggo: uh, sino yun?

The only Filipino superhero I truly respect was Flash Bomba (google him up if you guys don't know him). He was the most original superhero ever and his powers kick ass!

- Nope but if we did meet she would say "stop staring at my breasts, you freak."

- Artist, because a true artist can see the "art" in business and the "art" in cooking therefore he/she can be all three at the same time.

- Andami qualities sa ideal woman ko e but, hey, bahala na

at least five years younger than me
long straight hair
beautiful eyes
looks, uh, "healthy" (think Diana Zubiri or Angelica Panganiban)
smart (but not the boring kind of smart)
gentle yet tough
great to talk to
can tolerate my eccentricities
Buddhist or at least open-minded to Buddhism
adores children and animals
likes my cooking and comics

Was it just me, or did I hear thunder and lightning all around me? And since when can you hear lightning?

Question, if it was your last day on earth, and you had your choice of any woman, who would you sleep with? Why not?

1) Do you own real weapons like shurikens, swords and those stuff?

2) Complete this sentence; FPN is in a state of trance if ____________________.

have you always been on the heavy side? what's the harshest thing ever said to you regarding your size? did you retaliate?

if you're to subsist on 5 types of ulam, what will they be? Please be specific, e.g. lechon manok with sweet & sour sauce.

regarding you tarot reading, ever "read" something tragic or too  negative that you did not relay to the person who consulted you? what are the top 3 things you don't want to hear when somebody else reads your fortune for you?

- Uh, I don't think you can't hear lightning. Only thunder is the sound.
- I would sleep with either Angelica Panganiban, Phoemela Barranda or Bianca King simply because they're all hot. Can't I just have all of them?

bugoytheman

- I own 2 different sets of arnis sticks, a retractable steel club and a wooden knuckle.
- FPN is in a trance when he smells some really good food nearby.

najanaja

- Used to be always but I've lost a lot of weight recently. Harshest thing? Nope, I don't remember. Retaliate? Sometimes.

- fried chicken with gravy, roasted chicken with gravy, grilled chicken with barbeque sauce, gyudon with a side of shrimp tempura, sweet sauce and miso soup, a really big cheeseburger with blue cheese, spicy fries and onion rings with dip.

- So far, I've never seen anything really tragic in my readings. If I did, I'd tell my customers and assure them that they still have the power to change their destiny which is true of course.

Top 3 things I don't want to hear from another tarot reader: - baldness in my future, gaining the "old people scent" and how many strands of hair in my nostrils.

Let's play favorites:

- Favorite comic book series?
- Favorite graphic novel?
- Favorite comic artist? Writer?
- Favorite comic strip? (Foreign, not local)
- Favorite visual artist?
- Favorite art movement?

And lastly, the questions I really want answered:

- Do you believe that hand-drawn comics will still have a place in the future?
- What can we do to resurrect/jumpstart the local comic book industry?
- Speaking as a member of Artist's Den, what can your group do to promote Pinoy comic books to the public?
- And what are you waiting for?

mikel11:

- Catsup. It's a lot more nutritious.
- Both.
- KFC. I love their original recipe.
- I usuall prefer iced tea. If not, lemonade. I rarely touch softdrinks for health reasons.

psychocow:

- Usagi Yojimbo and Hellboy are among my favorite comics
- For graphic novels, my favorite is After Eden so far.
- Favorite comic artist: Stan Sakai and Mike Mignola, favorite writer: Neil Gaiman
- I'm often fond of Garfield, Liberty Meadows and Pearls Before Swine.
- For visual arts, I seem to be fond of anything ancient and oriental.
- I'm not so fond of any certain art movement. Sorry.

- Definitely yes. I very much doubt that handrawn comics will be totally replaced by digital ones. Besides, how come there are people who still pain on canvas when they can just do their masterpieces in Adobe? It's the art, not the technology, that is important.

- We can start by educating people about the value of comics in our culture. This way, like-minded individuals who truly appreciate comics, will be born. My theory is that if we influence society into appreciate and even support Filipino comics, then reviving the comic industry may become possible.

- Basically we plug them not only in the mailing list but also in our own websites. One effective way to promote local works is via blogging. For some reason, people seem to read blogs more than any other kind of website.

- I wait for an oppurtunity to strike.

Reading your entries and discussing theological matters with you before, I realize you're not only quite passionate about your newfound religion but you're also quite averse to the Christian faith so:

- At what period of your life did you start embracing other beliefs other than the one you grew up with?

- What was the catalyst for this change?

- Can you ennumerate those things you find objectionable in the Christian faith?

- Did you try researching about this matters and if so did anyone give you a hard time with these?

- Why is six afraid of seven?

- Naku! Marami akong favorite food but I can tell you that my top favorite has always been fried chicken. I know some variations of fried chicken. I even have a recipe that can even beat KFC's.

Lico's Fried Chicken recipe #1

10-12 pieces of chicken
1 tbsp of knorr seasoning
1 tsp of pepper
2 tsp of salt
1 tsp of McCormick chicken seasoning
1 tbsp of kalamansi juice
1 egg (beaten)
1/4 cup of milk
2 cups flour
lots of cooking oil

- Marinate the chicken in knorr, pepper, salt, chicken seasoning and kalamansi juice for at least an hour. The longer the marination, the better.
- Combine the egg and milk in a bowl.
- After marination, dip the chicken piece by piece in the egg-milk mixture.
- Dip the chicken piece by piece in flour.
- Preheat the cooking oil for five minutes.
- Fry the chicken until golden brown.
- Place the chicken on paper towels to get rid of excessive oil.
- Serve and enjoy.

Tip 1: to ensure having a well-cooked fried chicken, either fry smaller pieces of chicken or puncture the chicken while frying.

Tip 2: You could replace the knorr with soy sauce and replace the chicken seasoning with spices like paprika or curry.

Heffer Wolfe

- When I was in high school I was pretty big on New Age stuff like meditation, crystals and even energy healing. Technically, I was still a Roman Catholic. I had no real plans of turning to other religions until one and a half year ago.

- I realized that I wasn't happy enough with Christianity. Too dogmatic, too many rules, too much politics, too much controversy and I don't agree with many of the teachings. As a Christian, I didn't progress much in a spiritual sense no matter how much I prayed. From that time, I had to search a path that'll not only help me improve myself spiritually but also find more peace and happiness without the entrapments of dogma.

- Honestly, I find the very essential basics of Christianity awesome. You know, love and compassion. I mean, Jesus rocks! He was a spiritual rebel during his time just like Buddha. I just have a problem with some of the followers. You know, the types who scare you with images of fire and brimstone and then take your money? I also don't agree with the many stances the Christian leaders (including from denominations other than Roman Catholics) such as on abortion, gay marriage (I'll be honest, I'm not exactly pro-gay but I still support their rights because I feel it's the right thing to do), inter-religion relationships, birth control, the separation of church and state and probably many more. I also discovered laws and passages in the Bible that are so dark and brutal I don't want to discuss them in this thread, EVER.

- Yes, I've researched and I'm still horrified by what I've discovered. It's true what they said about the price of knowledge and the bliss of ignorance. I never discussed these matters with priests and pastors because I have extreme difficulty in interacting with Christian authority due to a traumatic experience back in high school. I prefer not to talk about it.

- Because seven is not only a number of intellect, it's also a divine number with references to the seven days of creation, seven chakras, seven virtues, seven sins, seven seals in the book of Revelations, seven days in a week, seven geese a laying, seven dwarves, Seven-Up and Seven-Eleven. Ever heard of the term "lucky seven"? That's a lot of reasons for six to fear seven.

Then again, maybe it's simply because seven ate nine. HA! Akala niyo di ko alam ang joke na yan no!!??
