"oh, the river is wide, the river it touches my life...like the waves on the sand...and all roads lead to tranquillity base...where the frown on my face disappears..."
uhm, may tanong ako...bakit si sabina (angel locsin) palagi nyang isi-ni-sway ung skirt nya...para xang timang na first time lang nagpalda....tsk tsk tsk...
musta naman ung panday? buhay pa ba yong series na yon sa dos? ndi ata napaparamdam...

PAnsin ko din un. Eberytime bago sya lipad, lagi nya sway skirts nya. Pang dagdag thrust or whatever?
Interesting din ang Calla Lily. Pinalitan na ba nito ang Eternal Love?
ako not kapuso o kapamilya...pero i like watching TOTOO TV, grabe kung mang-asar sila ng politician na iniinterview nila. Tapos, MAD TV, grabe mag-spoof.

i love that show lalo na yung episode na na interview nila si former vice president guingona at yung line nya na "my precious"
i watched that episode...lumaki pa mata ni former VP Guingona...by the way, did you watch the episode with Mayor ER Ejercito (aka George Estregan JR)....may portion dun na umaarteng kontrabida siya...ang bida si Ariel at Maverick
On the topic: any news on Majika? Di me nakakapanood eh

Gawa ng gawa ng series, wala namang budget for production. BY this time I expected Philippines to reach Shaider quality of production, pero olats pa rin. Ampapangit pa ng concept.
Bro, before you start talking about production design and all those trappings, you best be bitching about the one thing that truly matters: The Story. Because, as far as I'm concerned, we've long surpassed "Shaider" level; the powers that be just don't have the imagination to push things to its fullest potential.
Okay, let's say you have an ultimately fantastic plot, concept and story. Can you say that these things will shine out when you put poor scripting, crappy production, stone-age fight choreography and bad acting into the mix?
Story is just one factor, and even though I truly comprehend its importance and value, it is still just that.
You misunderstood me. Typical. Anyway, the fact remains that there are no "ultimately fantastic plots" out there to speak of (and excuse me, when I said "story, I meant plot and script). And the fact remains that, potential-wise, we have the tools and financial capability to come up with really good programming. That's why I'm not too concernred about the technical aspects; we have already have them. It's just not being used to its fullest potential.
Now before you tell me otherwise, let me break it down for you, point per point:
Poor scripting - Can't argue with you there. However, there are a lot of really good scriptwriters out there which are underutilized because the powers that be either prefer crappy writers or are too shallow. The talent, however, is there. By the way, if you can be bothered to watch ABS-CBN soaps, they're actually pretty good. And you can quote me.
Crappy production - Which one? Captain Barbell? Atlantika? Asian Treasures? That's crappy for you? Damn, your standards are high. Take away the acting and storylines (which are atrocious), and the production design and technical aspects of these fantaseryes are actually pretty good. I'd rather shave my skin off rather that to watch all that crap, but I give recognition where recognition is due.
Stone-age fight choreography - Ha. Again, can't argue with you there. This is simply an issue of logistics and budget. A well-shot fight scene takes one to two days to shoot. A typical soap opera shoots two full days for five episodes. Do the math. For the powers that be, a fantaserye is just another soap.
Bad acting - Do yourself a favor and stop watching GMA 7. Their actors and actresses can't act. ABS-CBN has some real actors and actresses, honestly, but since the trend is on teenybopers, a lot of the true thespians drop off the radar. But they're there.
You forgot some aspects, by the way:
Music - How many times have you watched a local show that tries to shove in a song that doesn't fit? Again, blame the powers that be. We're one of the best in the world when it comes to musical talent, but it's just not being utilized. Budget, lack of imagination on the part of producers, blame who you will.
Money - The ultimate decision-swinger. And something we don't have too much of.
The market - Since most of the channels are aiming at the female, 40+, C D E market, how can you expect producers to invest in shows for younger people?
Direction - Ultimately, if a script is crappy, if actors and actresses perform like sh*t, if a show is simply unwatchable, blame the director. There are a lot of fantastic directors out there though, but they don't get the breaks they deserve.
This is all first-hand experience and knowledge, just in case you need to know.
So you see, as much as it's fashionable to claim that everything about Local TV is crap, it's simply not true. The tools are out there, it's the perception, the priorities, the thrust, and the work ethic that has to change. You can have all the toold, but if you don't know how to use them, then it's all for naught.
