This topic is a sort of "help me please"...any one who has the knowledge in any of those things that i mentioned please share something. I know punk and new wave (and some glam), but hey, i know there are people who know better. Kaya nga, "help me!!!"

IMO offspring isn't really old skool, as most people would probably say. they belong to what i'd consider as "post-punk" bands. i mean, after the wave of the 80s and stuff. parang new gen ika nga...

Yan ang gusto ko....clarifications. By the way, what can you say about the emo vs. punk thing?
On the topic: tell me the distinction between old and new school. Confused ako in this old school and new school thing, but i listen to seminal punk (ramones).

oh. okay... i'll use my little knowledge of one of my fave music genres...
emo somehow relates to punk in a sense that they both have fast beats and the same angst... it's just that emo is a bit more dark. my chemical romance is emo-punk... nagiging emo minsan ang tawag when you have eyeshadows and wear black attire, which in my opinion, really is a fad nowadays. and let's not forget the haircut. haha.
post-punk basically is that era when every so-called punk bands started to embrace the infulence of pop such as MTV. syempre some of them wanted to go big-time so... they went mainstream. yun yung mga minsan nag-iincorporate ng ibang influences sa punk like sum 41 and good charlotte - putting rap music WHERE IT SHOULD NOT BE. post-punk bands have heavier riffs and even louder screams, and most of them somehow just have a lyrical approach towards life in general - walang political stuff.

Nice info...emo usually is emotional...right? Kasi sa punk world, may debate din eh, gets?

oh. okay... primarily cuz they appeared in the same era and of the remixes, ika nga ni pareng fraggle. another factor is that at some point some bands that were considered punk the time changed styles. can't specify an example, considering that my mentality those days were of mere objectives like breast-feeding (haha), but i theorize that depeche mode is a good example.

I noticed that...you know Papadom? Dati, punk siya, tapos nung 90s until now, reggae na...Depeche Mode? Nag-iba na nga style nila...pero may techno sound pa rin kahit papano..

Remember the "hiphop versus metal" era of the 90s? Halos magkasabay sila...pero magkaaway sila...pero bakit ang new wave and punk...parang magkaibigan? Oh well, maybe it's the hairdo and clothes...
The Dawn is New Wave when they're new...(listen to enveloped ideas).
