not really... punk went UNDERGROUND. bastards who call themselves punk but are seen regularly on MTV and can get teenybopper audiences are the ones who should be considered dead - living dead, to be exact.

When you say "punk", they create their own stuff...for example, pag may maong...yung band mismo ang gagawa ng style nila...ngayon, may designer na for them...Papadom (of Tropical Depression) doesn't like that idea.
Punk will attract teenagers also, for punk talks about angst, rebellion against parents, government, system, etc...However, MTV is the reason why they attract teenybopper...MTV extends the punk music's "market."
MTV, i'm sorry to say, commercialized them. Can't blame MTV though. It's big business.

amen to that. another thing that papadom said is for you to embrace the music, you have to learn all about it. parang yung sa rastafarian bandwagon. he really does hate na parang may mga sumasabit pero hindi alam ang ideyolohiya ng pakikinig sa reggae. kinda like punk. i have to admit that music is starting to become a fad, and no longer the expression of ideas. i mean, nowadays, pag narinig mo si A, may lalabas na copies B, C, and so on.
on a random note, i'd like to call cover bands as NECROMANCERS. gets? haha

going back to the topic, i am an avid fan of blink-182, new found glory and mxpx. but my musical preferences doesn't stop with punk. i listen to a lot of stuff. grunge. metal. hardcore. emo. industrial. garage. even j-rock.

hindi ako pinanganak ng 1970s pero trip ko ang Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Clash.. and the like. hey ho.. let's go.. tapos yung Minor Threat, Fugazi. yea. and Green day ;)
Ramones are considered as the beatles of punk. By the way, Little Aimee is President Marcos' adopted daughter, not granddaughter. I remember her band: THe Dorks. Modern Punk daw sila...Grabe...Ganda ni Little Aimee, tapos, Law graduate pa sa London...Tapos, nagbabanda? Yan ang Punk with Brain and Beauty!!!
