Looks like the latest Hollywood Films premiering on Xmas day will have to wait until after New Year.
It's that jolly time once again when surviving local Mainstream industry players roam free for 1-2 weeks without fear of losing to Mainstream Foreign productions costing millions to make and billions to market and promote.
This year, here are some of the entries:
Dayo - a locally produced Animated film for a local audience featuring Aswangs and Tikbalangs
Iskul Bukol da Reunion - Tito Vic and Joey combine crass college humor and Indiana Jones swashbuckling (a Crocodile Jones remake)
Baler- A Spanish Soldier (Echo Rosales) and a Filipina (Anne Curtis?!?) fall in love amidst the backdrop of the Phil Revolution
Tanging Ina Niyo Lahat- (i Ai de las Alas plays single Mom turned President and spoofs almost every major RP movie and TV series in this Star Cinema franchise
I wonder which of the entries are worth watching or avoiding

I don't get it how a Fil-Aussie mestisa like Anne Curtis gets cast as a pureblood pinay when there are other actresses who look the part and can do a better job?
This gives me the impression this was the result of wheeling, dealing and neck-wringing by Viva Corpos, talent managers and entertainment journalists

weird nga rin.. reverse si anne at jericho.. does jericho look like a spanish person to you? unless mixed na sya.. if you can get past that.. okay naman sya..
shake rattle and roll is good. i know. i've seen it (read my review sa www.beerkada.net)
dayo is a must watch din..
iskul bukol.. no need to waste your money unless rich ka talaga.. and they show shots of cambodia so okay na rin...
Supposedly that Star Cinema Franchise has the highest box office gross among the entries. =========================================================== BTW, I think I know why Anne, Echo, Nikki Bacolod and Mark Bautista got cast in those roles in Baler because they are talents managed by Viva Entertainment, which prodcued the film.
Even the movie themesong was sung by another Viva-managed Talent - Sarah Geronimo.
One of the of the Spanish officers is played by Ryan Eigenmann. One of the priests is played by Michael de Mesa, another Eigenmann.
Is it just me or when you sign an Eigenmann as part of the cast, you get another as part of the package?

I watched Tanging Ina nyong lahat. I liked the beginning but as it dragged on I was like forced to finish it. I didn't like the story development at all. Oh well, it is a comedy after all which is after MONEY.
Anyway, I also watched Shake, Rattle and Roll 10. Blegh, it wasn't scary at all coz I was laughing while watching it. The second story, "Class picture" was the only one worth of being called a horror film. The rest, "Emergency" and "nieves" were so corny they don't deserve to be in a horror film at all.
Tanging Ina Niyong Lahat (TINL) and Iskul Bukol 20 Yrs After Bagged 2nd & 3rd Best Picture awards.
Dayo bags 4 awards
