The Palo Alto Research Center (PARC,) under Xerox company, came up with the graphics-user interface (GUI), the mouse, the laser printer, and ethernet, but xerox didn't see a way to make money out of it, so they put a low priority to these innovations. The young Steve Jobs and Bill Gates toured the facility and came out with millions of dollars worth of ideas, all for free.
