Having been in the call center industry for 2 1/2 years, my co-workers (TLs & QAs and higher) tend to use what I would like to call American Corporate English laced with terms like "cater, parameters, challenges" and other terms calculated to make you sound more professional.
I have to admit it can sound annoying. I prefer a more simple and direct-to-the point dialect of English which is easier to coach/train agents for.
What do you guys think?

I think it will depend on the nature of your work and your working environment. In my case, we have to deal with Chinese, Japanese, and Filipino clients. Among them, Chinese has a not-so-strong English background. That is why, we have to use words in its simplest form. I think Japanese has a very strong English background unfortunately has a problem dealing with speech. Filipinos are well-rounded, most versatile. Also, we are engineers so we have to use terms "comprehensible" to everybody...
However, for me, it would really be nice to know American Corporate English words or terms every now and then.
If you are talking to customers who have an issue to address or pitch a product/service to, KISS. But if you are talking to clients who are providing your call center accounts then bring on the corpo babble!!!

it depends on who you are talking. Still, it's good to have a know-how of those "American corporate English"...you have nothing to lose, and something to gain...
still, if you know how to communicate in a corporate manner AND in "an everyday manner", that would be the best of both worlds ('ika nga).
but KenMikaze is right, i have met White guys who prefers talking in simple English.

i like filipino style english, d ung english carabao ah, pero mas prefered ko ang sariling atin XD hehe, Kung tutuusin dapat sila ang matutong magtagalog d tau ( customers )
Just avoid transliteration... adjust your style and choice of words to the level of understanding of the person you are talking to.. when i was an agent i use simple conversational english.. what matters most is your tone and how you deliver your responses...

@bugoy XD hehehe, o dba? mas ok kung tau nagtatanong ng "Excuse me Do you speak tagalog" o kya "Excuse me Do you speak Kapampangan" o bisaya o kung ano anong local dialects natin sa mga foreignerr XD
oo nga 'no...pero in order for us to have more authority to do that, dapat bihisa tayo both in english and our native dialect (or maybe another dialect)...di ba? at least hindi sila aangas-angas...di ba? hehehehe

eh kung me punto, pag ang mga bisaya magtatagalog sa maynila eh pagtatawanan, eh di mag ingles na lang sila kahit minsan, daig pa ang ka-baw ingles.
now, back to the context of American Corporate English, even in the auspice of your work environment, use the Corporate babble sparsely; just like seasoning on a dish. Overusing it would make you sound like Satur et. al. (Terror fomenting war-mongers who enjoys the evisceration of the governance of the masses... now in this example, how does it sound?)
