Hey, who wants to go to the Salcedo Weekend Market?  For those who don't know, the Salcedo Weekend Market is an absolute treat for those who love good food.  It happens every Saturday at Salcedo Park, from 6am - 2pm.

Anyway, if anybody here hasn't been there and wants to check it out, I would LOVE to play tour guide.  Just post a message here and PM me some contact info.  Regardless of companion, I always go there whenever I can, so you really wouldn't be imposing.

This is my little way of "making bawi" coz I didn't make it to the Toycon.  Think of this as a weekly thing, okay?

Guys, here's the site map of the Salcedo Weekend Market... I've posted it so that everyone who's interested can go there... But i'm not 100% sure if i marked the right location though... still waiting for PsychoCow's confirmation... but just to give you an overview, if i'm right, it's in the mini park called Salcedo Green Park & Carpark in Salcedo Village.

if ever there's some changes in the location, i'll just update it...biggrin

Right in the gut of Makati Business Center District is the Salcedo Park. Every Saturday, there is a free for all in the park. Vendors take over part of the park to sell their specialty items. There are ornamental plants, organically grown vegetables, bakery products, grilled fish, lechon from Cebu, lechon from the backyard and of course the lechong baka (steer). The aroma of the place just grips you like a rottweiller grips a wet ragdoll and shakes you all over the place. You are left incoherent by the different intoxicating aroma of meat, fish and game roasting on the grills. Your brain tells you to get out of the place but....too late. Like a zombie, you reach for your wallet,oblivious to the now incoherent babbling of your shopping companions.


Here's something for all of you who cant find time to shop around during weekdays. There is a weekend market that opens every Saturday morning from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Jaime Velasquez Park in Makati.

Once you're there, you will be greeted by a heavy, inviting smoke coming from a variety of grilled meats and fishes. Fresh produce are being sold mostly fruits, seafood and veggies. For the most part the place is like a food fair rather than a market because most stalls offer prepared and cooked foods.

There is also a plant section that offers flowers like roses, orchids and jasmines. Herbs (mint, oregano, thyme, etc) growing on pots are also available, which you can buy and replant somewhere in your garden.

The market is being managed and supervised by Brgy. Capt. Nene Lichauco with the cooperation and support of the Makati Comercial Estates Association Inc.

You have takers... I think. We (bluebearfrancis and howlingwolf) are going to ask you if you are available this Saturday (July 7, 2007). I asked raspberi if she would like to come. She said yes. I hope she doesn't change her mind.
