I also love Kiko Machine and Pugad Baboy. As in. For the longest time, these two strips and Beerkada were the only funny local strips that existed. Apparently, they may be a fourth one, but the jury's still out on Call Work. I need to read more of those strips, but it's looking good.
I used to like Cesar Asar, pero na-asar na ko sa kanya.
Sa Pupung kasi, parang ganun lang yung humor palagi. Slapstick humor, walang depth. For a while, before Pugad Baboy, parang ganun lahat ng comics. Thank God for intelligent comics.
I used to really like Pugad Baboy until a point where I found it more political than funny.
I love and miss certain series from Funny Komiks, among them Viktar Istarkid and Combatron. I also used to collect Kick Fighter comics and other comics that are based on Anime and Video Games. Biotrog by Gilbert Monsanto, Kickero by Caesar Sto. Domingo and many more.
I was also a fan of horror komiks, especially if it's drawn by Jim and Jay Jimenez.
BTW, can anyone give me a link to Ariel Atienza's comic?
aside from beerkada, i have carpool. very friendly siya and lite yung humor. kumbaga sa rating ng mtrcb, siya ang masasabi ko for general patronage.
kiko machine... ahhh grabe up to now isa siya sa all time favorite ko (aside from beerkada of course). nakakrelate kasi ako sa kanya because medyo nagkapareho siya sa lifestyle namin ng barkada ko nung college, and most especially the punchlines.
PB, oo nga nung una nakakatawa siya pero habang tumatagal mas nagiging incline siya sa politika. pati dumating yung timena naumay ako sa kanya. pero kumnpleto pa rin ako ng collection. meron pa ako nung PB-I hehehe...
I read pugad baboy, beerkada, kiko machine, divine comedy.
funny yung gawa ni Greco na Aha-hule. Funny din yung mga gawa ni Makou sa Bulletin na Flip. Check niyo rin yung gawa ni Andre - Evergreen SD Kubori kikiam din! (PG18)
well, since this thread is here... Sino dito ang bumibili ng Indie comics? comments on the indies you've bought please. Recommended indie Cresci Prophecies by Joanah Tinio.
Graphic novels: Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah and Arnold Arre's books (Trip to tagaytay, After Eden, Mythology Class and Andong Agimat). Love these!!!
I had a reason for disliking Culture Crash, but I'll have to read an issue again to remember what it was. But then again, I was an Otaku Purist back then.
I remeber what I disliked about the "-Chips" comics: Very Bad Layout.
Culture Crash had such a big impact in the comics industry. Not only was it the first manga/anime-styled comics, it's format was being followed and served as a measurement of success and always a point of comparison. Even after being formally closed, fans still ask the question, "babalik pa ba yung culture crash?".
Ok sana yung gawa nung Atomic Underground. They are an indie group and they had, i think, 2 comic issues published similar to Culture Crash, but it didn't last long.
Neo-comics, lacks story-wise.
Mango Jam, could still be improved on art and story. Too bad, i think they stopped publishing it as well. goodbye to Mwahaha as well.
Cast, good. still think it still has a pretty western approach in the story. but hey! they have Arnold arre to do issues!
Extreme Manga Mania (questor)...art is really good. Some stories were quite intersting. I never really got to read everything.
Just got the new kikomachine comics.. A bit letdown yet still good.
*I've just noticed that Fully Booked doesn't seem to carry any beerkada books.. I wonder why?
errr. ask ko lang po kung ano pong book yung kikomahine? wala na ako time magbrowse sa national bookstore sa festival kaya wala na ako idea kung anong bago. thanks po...

i don't have books there either. when i submitted my books, sabi nila loaded na raw filipiniana section nila. duh? tapos meron sila kikomachine, pugad baboy, simo... maybe i could try asking again.
Oo nga, I mean hello, no offfense kay Simo but they aint that good. tapos meron pa sila yung mga horror **** books and yung book ni Jay Panti. Tapos clean (sometimes) humored books like Carpool and Beerkada wala?

Really? I thought the second compilation was much funnier. Oh well, to each their own...
I'd like to think that the reason we can't find Beerkada and Kiko Machine in Powerbooks is because people buy them too quickly. Please, someone tell me I'm just thinking wishfully.
I just checked Powerbooks in Sm Megamall, wala silang Kikomachine yet they have Pugad Baboy. Sa Fullybooked SM North may Kikomachine, Simo ( several editions), Pugad Baboy 3, Mang Ambo and Phil Ghost Story craps. I asked why there wasn't any Beerkada and they said I'm the first one to ask. What????

dito sa national bookstore sa festival walang kiko machine, carpool, even beerkada... di ko nga kilala yung binebenta nilang comic books. meron silang phil ghost story...
hay...if only i had the means and the time to deliver to more NBS branches. *sigh* so far my books are only in 8 NBS and 4 Powerbooks branches plus the 2 Comic Quest stores.
I have a complete set of Beerkada and Kiko Machine books. Now, I really need to complete my Pugad Baboy collection. I've got a lot of compilations that went missing. Usually it's when someone I lend it to lends it to someone else and tracking them have bceome impossible.
Speaking of Pugad Baboy, I just found out PM Junior actually does a Car-Related Pugad Spin-Off called Torque Chops for the RP edition of Top Gear

I still have an original copy of the PB graphic novel "Polgas: Ang asong hinde". Now, I'm not an autographs kind of guy, but if I ever stumble across PM Junior, he just has to sign my copy!
There's this rare one-shot compilation of strips I would really like to get called "Doug and Kitten" it contains strips about the misadventures of a guy and his then GF. The guy who did the strips is some unknown named Alex Galmedo who seemed to have not pursued other projects.
I'm even willing to search for a copy online

Doug and Kitten?!? Alex Galmedo?!? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! You've come to the right place! I'm sure Lyndon can convince Alex to sell you a copy, right Lyndon?
