I guess everyone saw what happened yesterday at the HOSTAGE TAKING.
my thoughts: It's stupid to hostage a bunch of kids and demand that the government give those same kids scholarship!!! Ano? "kung di niyo bibigyan ng scholarship ang mga bata, papatayin ko sila?" sheesh.
Then opposition candidates ride on the issue saying "yeah this would never have happened if it weren't for the government" and "we fight for the same issues the hostage taker had brought to our attention"
AAAAAARRRGGGGGHHHHHH...SO ANNOYING!!!!!
In the end, Bong Revilla gives the kids scholarship anyway therefore the hostage taker was successful in his mission. *sighs*
@ Sangre: Again, that would be if you were made to choose between the two of them. Plus, malay naman natin, maybe Buboy will be 1 of the good politician.

More like an election-induced publicity stunt by some candidate.
I do have a gut feeling that a certain candidate may have coerced or persuaded that Ducat guy to pull off an altruistic stunt like the one he did before. This is to ensure Senor Politico could grab the limelight by appearing defuse the whole crisis.

My two cents on the whole hostage-taking thingy...
I also feel it was staged to make certain politicians look good. With that said...
It's not that I'm defending Bong Revilla (God forbid!), but in case some of us have forgotten, he used to be an actor (ego, the deeper pockets). And even if he used his pork barrel to pay for the tuition of those kids, S2chard, how on God's good name is that a bad thing?
Unless, of course, this inspires other attention-deficient bastards to try pulling off similar stunts... Oh ****.
The Opposition will ride on anything, anything, to get some attention to themselves. Those bastards don't have any platform to speak of.
At least Ducat knew how to keep those kids at ease.
As for those kids, their field trip did not end at Liwasang Bonifacio nor at the Ospital ng Maynila but at Malacanang. Public appearance by the President included.

psycho: eto lang po.
well first for all, sa ginawa niyang yun para bang napakalaking pribilehiyo ang ibinigay niya sa mga bata. responsibilidad niya yun.
then kung sana noon pa niya ginagawa iyong "mamigay ng scholarship", well pwede pa. pero dude it's election. imposibleng walang makasamang politika yan.
and last that is not a work of good man. kung tutulong ka rin lang, bakit kelangan mo pang i brod cast? why??? i mean kayo ba pagtutulong kayo ipingasasabi niyo. or kung may nagtanong sa inyo kelangan sabihin niyo lahat?
my points: -what ever happened to "an honest day of hard work"? I know our country isn't the richest one, that jobs are not that easy to get and that salaries are not high, BUT some people still can be successful if they work hard to reach theior goals.
-"the end STILL does not justify the means". It's glorifying violence to get what he wants, though it be not for himself. What if others thought "If he did it, I'd do the same"? it's not far from happening.
Again, let me repeat myself, I am NOT defending any politician here. And I'm not kidding myself, I know there's a lot of bullsh*t going on in government. I also believe the whole hostage-taking thing is staged for certain people's benefit, and that, when you do a good thing, you shouldn't have to broadcast it to the world..
I guess I'm at that stage that if I see anything good come out of any situation, no matter how minuscule, I'll take it. I don't believe I'm settling for anything, or being less vigilant, but I've come to realize that being automatically critical and negative of anything does not help things.
It's so easy to say "the government's worthless", "politicians are all corrupt", blah blah blah, but to put everything in such general terms is scary because you don't allow yourself any more room to revise your views. Now, personally, you all know me as the biggest loudmouth in this group, but there's a method to my madness. For example, you will NEVER hear me state a generalization. I won't say any of those statements above because I know it simply isn't 100% true. The percentage is insanely high, I bet, but it's not 100%. And for as long as that small percentage exist, then I have reason to hope.
Besides, I've always believed that the greatest force of change is the private sector. I'm doing what little I can, personally.
People has to survive.
If we are all going to see the B.S. of these politicians, then wala na ngang pag-asa ang Pinoy government natin. We may see Revilla and Chavit act live. We may see Oreta dance for glory. We may even see Vic Magsaysay, he-who-is-not. Despite the shameful acts that they do, they need exposure.
12 (or 13) seats for them Senatoriables and don't forget the other seats too. We should just think positive and look at what they've done and what they are capable of. Kung nandidiri tayo sa kanila, we should just forgive them. Would you like Tito Sotto to be a senator again? Then, don't vote. Other people would be voting this coming elections and hindi naman nadadaan sa educational attainment ang pagkapanalo, votes. Tulad ko (at siguro si cow na din at yung mga bumoto last time), kami dapat siguro ang may right na magreklamo to the max, dahil sa tax na nagbibigay sa kanila ng mga sweldo nila. pero bilang isang mabuting citizen, we're doing the right thing (hopefully).
In conclusion to my thesis (hehe), just look at what these politicians can offer. I have a word document regarding some of the senatoriables.
Think positive and do your share.

Frag, can you email that word document to me? I'd love to read it.
Anyway, so far, these senatoriables have my vote: - Pichay (If nothing else, at least his campaign ads actually state his advocacies and platform) - Pangilingan (In fairness, he was a busy senator) - Defensor and Escudero (basta)
I'd rather go for Politicos who in their last stints worked double time to file constructive bills and not those types who did nothing but hog the camera and fought to get rid of the President

well, at least may optimist pang natitira sa Pilipinas. me? im loosing it. and to loose hope is a big thing. well, hanngang nandito pa sa Pinas wala magagawa kung di ipagdasal na sana may mangyari pang maganda.
i go for the the 3M politicians. Matandang Malapit ng Mamatay (I'm sooo dead serious). Kahit papaano gagawa na rin siguro sila ng kabutihan. malapit na sila e. kung di sila gagawa ng mabuti, they will go to hell! harhar...
S2chard, you're too young to lose hope. And you haven't done everything you possibly can to help. I'm so sorry for you.
People, if this country will ever get back on track, I can assure you, it won't be because of the Government. As long as you have to elect officials every three years, progress will stall. What you need is continuity. You need programs, projects, and advocacies that go beyond 3-year increments. And the only way that's going to happen is for the private sector to step up. That means all of you reading this.
Think about it. Everything good that has happened to this country (YES, a lot of good stuff has happened over the past couple of years, so if you can't see that, f*ck you) happened mostly because of the private sector. The resurgence of the peso can be attributed to E-Vat, for example, but it's also buoyed highly by overseas remittances. If not for private and foreign investors, the government won't have funds to pour into infrastructure and industrial projects. And as much as the government is f*cking up discussions regarding NAIA 3, at least the airport exists. Most of the tourist sites is maintained by private parties, with minimal help from the public sector (although Manila's local government gets some credit. Dammit, Ali Atienza has to win).
So, simply put, we can all bellyache about how worthless and stupid our Government is, and how hopeless and bleak the situation is...
Or, we can do something about it.
And the first thing you can do is to VOTE WISELY. Don't waste the chance.

By the way, HOW COULD I FORGET?!? Of course I'm voting for Joker Arroyo!
hehehe...i know politics suck. problem is they focus so much on bad points, they hardly see what good things happen. Whether GMA is hiding something or not, she works.
They want instant results. They think that when they replace someone in a position the change will come easy. Change doesn't come overnight. especially for our country. everytime we change someone, we don't see their projects take form, which is sad.
Look, I would have run for public office, but three year terms don't suit me, and besides, they don't have openings for the "Tyrant" post. Maybe in 2010...
I've always been moderate in my view in politics. However, i don't like celerbrities running in legislative positions. Leadership and legislating are two different entities.
