I find that books are always appreciated. They don't have to be brand new. Sometimes nakaka - chamba ako sa Booksale ng titles na rare (super chamba na `to) or hard - to - find -- in sci - fi, non - fiction, instruction manuals even -- or earlier, lesser - known works of a particular author, tapos yun ang binibigay ko. I saw a Lemony Snickett book, which is normally P 500.00 or more sa regular bookstore, selling for P 95.00 sa Booksale kasi baligtad ang pagka - bind -- the cover is upright tapos the contents go the other way. Carry na yun. Buy and Sell is another source of old books, and garage sales, too.
Sometimes, I "update" what they already have: I'm giving a couple of flower brooches/pins to a friend who has this favorite t - shirt. With the pins, updated na yung look ng shirt niya, na ayaw nya talagang bitawan. Sana itakip nya dun sa butas sa bandang left. Or buy plain, solid - colored shirts tapos match them up with pins, ibigay mo na nakadikit na yung pins. The shirts are cheaper but not necessarily boring, versatile pa ang plain shirts. Maybe a belt to go with an already favorite pair of jeans?
I'm giving new versions of software to some friends, sticker labels to the kids (gawa lang ako sa Photoshop then print on sticker paper) na panglagay sa notebook, I might compile a selection of favorite songs (pirata ito), stuff like that. I love it when I'm able to give a gift na parang pasadya talaga sa bibigyan ko.
Sure, I'll buy some stuff na yun na yun, galing tindahan at diretso na sa receiver pagka - balot pero I make sure it's something that this person needs and will really like. For that you have to really observe and "listen" all year to your loved ones para maka - pick - up ka ng tips kung ano ang mga gusto at kailangan nila. Mostly I give practical stuff; mahirap ang buhay. Most times, you have to be creative.
Towels for the sports buff. Or the really sweaty couch potato. I had to put this in because somehow, people like getting towels. The small ones. Towels, not people.
I did this before -- for a movie buff friend, I made a movie "care package": popcorn, a can of Coke and a VCD copy of his favorite film. Tapos dinaan ko na lang sa ribbon and inexplain ko na lang sa note. Or I bake cookies or make pasta sauces tapos noodles lang, care package na yun.
Iniisip ko pa kung sasagutin ko yung spa treatment ng isang friend ko. Mahal, eh, but she looks like she could use a good massage. Stressed out, eh. Maybe there's a cheaper equivalent, like ikaw na ang mag-masahe or something. Ako, hindi marunong.
World peace din shempre. Love and peace always. Lots and lots.
Gee, if I split up this post into several parts, baka Senior na ako ngayon. Sorry, napahaba.
Lots of beads - bracelets, necklaces, belts, pangsabit sa cellphone
Flower pins - with sequins, silk, big, small
Slippers - somehow the print makes them more expensive. Bye-bye, Spartan and Bantex.
Knock - off "character watches" - The Incredibles (funny, I don't remember them wearing yellow costumes), Nemo (pink ba siya?), Barbie, etc. At Market, Market in The Fort, some sell at 2 for 250 (135 each), merong 100 each. Non - character, funky watches sell for anywhere from 110 - 250, depende sa style. Vendors claim they will last more than a week. Hmm. I found these cute watches that you wear on your finger like a ring; those sell for 135 a piece, 2 for 250. They look like those oversized cabochon rings of Bulgari. Sobrang look like lang, ha.
T - shirts, t - shirts, t - shirts - character shirts, vintage shirts, pa - vintage shirts, logo shirts
Bags, bags, bags - summer totes, cargo bags, all sizes, all colors.
Toys, toys, toys - A battery - operated, remote - controlled hovering flying saucer that sells for 999 (for that price dapat may alien na bumaba, ha), action figures (yung genuine at yung hindi, presyo lang ang nakapagsasabi ng totoo), character merchandise (read: The Incredibles), Robosapiens, Bratz, Bratz-bratz-an, Little Bratz, and Hello Kitty (Hi, Pussycat kung knock - off. Kitty with a purple nose?), etc. Some last as long as the attention span of the kid you're giving it to; take note that most kiddie attention spans do NOT equal the price you pay for the toy. Buy wisely.
Cellphones and cellphone accessories.
A friend has just gotten his shipment of Nintendo Ds for sale. P 15,000 yata.
Towels. I skipped the "let's embroider whatsis' name on the towel" this year.
Ang dami pang iba.
My mom's getting VCDs and DVDs from me.
My point is, TAPOS NA AKONG MAMILI! Yehey!!!
Now, to wrap.
Dratness.
But I *heart* Christmas pa rin.
Fa la la la la.
Ahem. After what seems like ages, Jinky is taking a break from all this wrapping, hence the rapping. Forgive me.

i'll be cooking for my family this christmas, yun lang kaya ko sa ngayon e. for friends, planners from papemelroti. basta i try to give practical and cute gift items kasi. para maalala nila ako lagi.
I got Fully Booked's last copy of Violent Cases by Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean to give to a friend for Christmas. I'm proud dahil nadaan ko sa kulit at katatanong.
Okay, the truth is, you did not need to know this. Wala lang ito. Kaya lang, while viewing the forums, I saw that there are 2313 posts. I have an aversion to the number 13 (and 6), kaya nag - post ako para wag ko na makita ang number na yon.

Having posted that gave me a total of 36 posts. I don't like the number 6 either, but I dislike number 13 more.
Sorry talaga. Taking a break from gift - wrapping. And just being anal again. Don't worry, di naman ako laging ganito, I have my good days din naman, hehehe.

some of the greatest gifts i've received so far, just off the top of my head. though if i do decide to count my blessings, i'd never be able to finish.. God is so good eh!
- my family's love and support. they believed in me AND for me when i've given up all hope during the most trying event in my life.
- a warm comforting hug from a former housemate when i badly needed it.. and assurance that i can always go back for more
- another hug from a high school friend... which said she understood and that i'm not alone. eased away all my troubles, that one. coming from a person whom i least expected it made it even more special.
- a special person holding your hands, during a tinginingining attack of combined anxiety, stress, and doubt. one word: peace.
of course, your credit's good but we need cash.. teka.. biglang U-turn..
