Going Bananas was the innovator because there was nothing like it during the time it was aired. 

Right now all we have are either rehash or borrowed ideas from foreign shows or franchise. 

For me one of the best local shows then was Tatak Pilipino.

 

Sic O' Clock news has to be the closest thing RP TV had to the Colbert Report and the Today Show w/ John Stewart - witty and intelligent humor mixed with political commentary.

Wazzup wazzup tried to follow the same concept but relied on lighter humor because they thought the heavier stuff of Sick O' Clock was something a younger audience couldn't relate to.

When it comes to political satire, who couldn't forget Mongolian BBQ? Is it just me or Mr Shooli may have possibly inspired possible relative Borat Sagadiyev to follow suit.

Too bad one major network is diminated by a Drama Freak who hosts her own drama anthology and its rival is run by someone who loves anything proven to rate well whether it be drama or reality tv and both do not want to try anything that would antagonize the government and the Catholic church/

Another sitcom we badly miss touching on relevant issues.

Nowadays the only humorous political commentary we'll get would be DOJ Sec Raul Gomez's soundbites and Tambalan Faylon & Sanchez on radio or Teleradyo

The only other free TV comedy show I watch is Camera Cafe.

Unfortunately TV sitcoms on RP Free TV left running nowadays are a formulaic mix of Toilet humor, insult gags, slapstick and romance. No originality left

The sad reality of RP Free TV is melodrama and reality TV/gameshows sell. Sitcoms and gag shows are just too damn risky. Cable brings forth gems like the Office and How I met your Mother. If Yanks and brits can get away with these, why can't we produce good stuff?

Or is it because TV network Corpos have ATM machines for brains and think more of what sells than what the viewing public really wants
