wowowee. actually, both have there own markets. for decades, other channels tried to duplicate the eb formula, which just reinforced the dominance of eb.

finally, wowowee broke the mold and came up with its own noontime show model, and formed a whole new market, besides stealing some of eb's market.

it will be a mistake for gma to ditch eb and form a gaya-gaya show. just focus on eb's existing strength and take it from there.

eat bulaga has been airing for as long as i can remember. ang dami-dami nang noontime shows na pinangtapat sa kanya (sanlinggo nAPO sila, MTB, etc...) and i strongly doubt if wowowee can stand in their level.

nakaka asar kasi ung gimik ng wowowee,money and always money... tapos yung kantahan,simula ng pumatok ung ganung dododo-dadada, at ung iba pa,di na binago, their formula is always the same and not changing nakakasawa, alam mo na mangyayari everyday. and magmumukahang pera na mga tao, hindi naentertainment pinunta nila, at mga TFC naman nagbibigay para magmayabang hindi na kusa, bwisit na balikbayang mayayaman.

spydie: I never liked afternoon variety shows except when they're featuring musicians I'm interested in, which they do very rarely). But I'll go with EB... I only watch Valerie Concepcion on Wowowee...

Wowowee is nice but overrated. Unfortunately, so is EB nowadays. I don't want any of them even until now.

Eat Bulaga! As most of you have already said, EB is tried and tested....AND they are on their 26th year(tama ba?). I like watching EB because it's funny....and i do mean real funny...NOT the kind of "funny" you find in wowowee.....para kcng snasamba nila si willie....grabe.....i don't like the kind of gimmicks they have there...like having street children cry on national tv...then make them sing or dance...so sad...

Naalala ko 'yung isang nahuli kong episode. Noong namimili sila ng Bigat-10, may isang batang biglang umiyak sa TV. Pati nanay niya umiyak. Noong tinanong sila, pinayagan silang sumayaw, pagkatapos pinagbigyan nila 'yung bata na maging Bigat-10. Nung pinasayaw na sila, biglang tumigil sa pag-iyak ang mag-ina. Parang scripted na lang ang kuwento ng mga sumasali sa Wowowee.


Sa isang banda, puro henyo at middle-class naman ang crowd sa EB. Tapos meron pa silang virtual idol ('yung si Twinkle ba 'yun?). Pero parang ginaya nila ang opening ng Wowowee na nagkakantahan sila ng God-knows-what. Tsaka boring na rin ang game shows ng EB.

i think eb...pero now parang nagiging pang masa na talaga yung show format nila, and it's obvious na prang they're doing everything para lang lamang sila against wowowee...

hay, may latest news ako, i dont know if you know this, but wowowee is pay-per-view sa ibang bansa, according sa kakilala ko, nakahiwalay ito ng show sa TFC and with separete payment from it, biruin nyo kinikita nila diba. barya lang pipamigay sa show nila, mga mukang pera...

Anyway, heard na nagkapikunan si Willie Revillame at Joey de Leon.. Looks like wala na naman preno ang bibig ni Joey sa pang-aasar at pagpaparinig about cheating and stuff.. kaya nag mega-drama si Willie kahapon, August 30. (see vids below if you're interested, medyo repetitive lang yung sinasabi ni Willie) Kakalungkot lang na nag-aaway sila.. On the other hand, hindi kaya pakana ito ng BOTH stations para pag-usapan at panooring sila ng sambayanan? Either situation, pareho sila panalo kasi marami pa rin ang manonood sa kanila. o di ba? :D

pero sa totoo lang nahihiwagaan ako kay willie talaga. I mean, hanggang ngayon nasa tv pa rin siya after all the trouble he made. Ano bang meron kay willie? starting from MTB tapos Wowowee. Grabeng intriga na ang inaabot ng ABS kay Willi pa lang.

Kung papapaliin ako sa dalawa, kay Joey ako.biggrin

Even interest has been revived in the old rape case filed against Joey de Leon and "Eat, Bulaga!" co-hosts Vic Sotto and Richie D'Horsie--way back in 1982 -- by a YouTube clip. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RHDj3kHAxU ).

Back in 1982, an underaged sexy Filipino Amerasian starlet named Pepsi Paloma lodged a rape case against de Leon and "Eat Bulaga!" co-hosts Vic Sotto and Richie D'Horsie (also known as Richie Reyes).

The rape case was settled out of court. De Leon, Sotto and D'Horsie made a public apology to Paloma.

In 1985, Pepsi Paloma hanged herself to death.

Paloma's lawyer in the rape case was a much younger Rene Cayetano (http://www.pcij.org/imag/PublicEye/cayetano2.html ) who would later be elected as a Philippine senator. It was the first big case that make Cayetano a celebrity lawyer.

Cayetano died on June 24, 2003 after a lingering battle with stomach cancer.

Two of his children, Pia (http://www.onlinewomeninpolitics.org/archives/04_0508_ph_wcc.htm) and Alan Peter, are now senators as well.

The Pepsi Paloma clip shows very little information about the case. Instead, it's an obvious attack on the comedian. The clip opens with a portion of film dialogue in Filipino. It also shows old footage of the starlet.

Listening to the audio, one realizes that the dialogue is that of three goons who eventually rape a woman. The woman's protests are also heard. The voices are not those of de Leon, Sotto or D'Horsie, but the association is being made between the three and the dialogue of the movie rapists.


The Pepsi Paloma Case is just an attack against Joey. The logic is pinipilit ni Joey na magpaliwanag si Willie. Nagyon, si Joey naman ang pinagpapaliwanag sa nangyari kay Pepsi.
