Warner Brothers Japan is in pre-production of the movie "L", a spin-off and prequel to the hugely popular Death Note. This time, the main character is L, and the story revolves around his life before the Death Note case. Starring (one of) my favorite(s) Ken'ichi Matsuyama. (If you don't know who he is, look at my avatar).
Don't believe me? Then take a look here and see for yourself. ;)
Some translation notes: 1) The first button box is a pop up window of a 40-second sort of teaser (I wouldn't call it a trailer) of the movie. In 500k and 1000k video size. 2) The second button box is 'Nyosu' ~ 'News'. I guess they'll be updating this from time to time but the latest update was posted last April 7, 2007 with some notes from the director and producers (I didn't translate all).. But it's easily notable that they are starting productions on August of 2007 with a target release date of the movie in 2008! 3) The line after the letter 'L' reads as: ' [ - ] L ' 'Anata wa [Death Note] no L shika shiranai'
which rougly translates to You only know Death Note's L (???) please help ^_-
He's Ken'ichi Matsuyama... He was one of the (minor) students in Gokusen, he was in 1 litre of tears.. he was the voice of Jealous in the anime.. he's currently doing Sexy Voice and Robo..
I'm not sure if it's going to be a 'trilogy' since this movie (i think) doesn't seem to be connected to death note in any way.. it's a stand alone movie about L.. so it's a spin off.. calling it a prequel to Death note would be a bit wrong too in my opinion since it doesn't have anything to do with the death note at all..
a fitting prequel to the death note movie would be the story where Ryuk previously gave his death note to a different person.. it's in the manga..
is this movie an adaptation of volume 13 ng deathnote?
I think you misunderstood my post above you. Anyway, the L-movie has nothing to do with Death Note. nothing at all. It's a movie about L, and L alone. TIme setting is before he got the case of the Death Note so we'll probably see him solve some other difficult cases that he had before.. maybe it would also show some background about him. :)
I don't know what my pet name for Ken'ichi should be, I read 'Matsu-Ken' somewhere.. but since I also like Matsu-Jun, it's kinda I don't know.. but maybe its a sign. . Ok then, Matsu-Ken it is. :D (Since I'm also a fan of Ken Hirai).
