My barkada is very funny, very witty. I've always told them that we could make comics based on their jokes and stuff. I was waiting for someone in the group to draw it. Since no one in the group would get dibs on making the strips, i started drawing it.

Merchandize: I'd love to, but can't afford to. I have the shirts in Spoof...but i don't have news on whether it would be out soon. I am not that happy with the design they approved din...let's see na lang.

More characters: We have 2 more friends in the group that i haven't made yet, Rey and Rex. We don't get to spend time with them that often. They are also high school buddies of the guys.

Other strips: uhm...alien boyfriend? hehehe...i don't know yet.

How did you meet Mr. Lyndon? What was your first impression? Where did this introduction take place? In what year, please?

Have you been on an airplane? Where did you go?

How did you learn how to swim? Who taught you?

The song Everything by Lifehouse, what do you think it means? Who is it meant for?

How long does it take for you to create a Carpool strip? What's the process like? Do you pencil it first, and then ink it? Please let us know.

Lyndon...I remember first meeting him at the Sci-fi convention held in Makati Cinema Square. I forgot what year that was. I had him sign the first beerkada book that i bought. My first reaction was..."wow...Lyndon Gregorio" then... "weird".

Plane...yes! I went to Singapore 3x before. My dad used to work there. Instead of them going home to the Philippines for a vacation, the encourage the families to go there instead. It's a very beautiful place! very clean...hehehe. Would love to go there again.

swimming...I think our dad first taught us. I remember him throwing my sister in the pool. hehehehe....Then a neighbor of ours taught me and my sister to swin at the Amoranto Stadium in Q.C. on weekends. We were still in grade school then. I knew the basic freestyle then. But when i started swimming weekly with the guys in Camp Aguinaldo, there was a lifeguard there who taught us to do the proper strokes.

"Everything" had a spiritual meaning for me. It could be a praise song for the Lord. ^_^ it's also cool 'cause it was used in smallville..hehehe...

Making strips...I used to draw 6-10 strips a day. I draw it on a sketch pad, ink, scan, clean up, letter, save. unfortunately, i rarely get to draw nowadays. I get to draw 2-4 strips when i am in the mood.

Love story..as requested by Chompy

Ingress of 1st ever Culture Crash Comics Anime and Comic Book Convention (dec.2002), I first met one of the artists of the Atomic Underground. After the briefing, we were ready to go home. I now meet Jon Zamar and discover that Jon and I both lived in project 3 and we were both from UST and both took Advertising Arts, only years apart. We both sold indie comics during the 2-day event. Jon sold Minsan sa Panaginip (still his thesis then), and i sold my friend's Indie comics (ARMOR Troopers). I talked to Jon about UST most of the time and remember buying him hotdogs for lunch on both days of the event because he never left the booth to eat. He won 3rd place in the indie contest. We went home seperately though because I was with my barkada (not yet called Carpool gang then). My attention wasn't focused on jon yet though. I had a crush on a Kogure (Slam dunk) cosplayer then.

A few days after the C3Con, blitzworx invited me to Alabang to join them for an afternoon of Basketball in Alabang. To my surprise, Jon was invited as well. Again, we spent much time talking to each other about UST stuff and went home together.

Blitzworx took jon to do the layout design for their comic. Most of the blitz members lived in the south. So the only person the blitz and jon knew who could assist him was me. So i started working with him, going to his home once in a while.

I love basketball. Problem is I had a basketball ring but had nowhere to put it. Jon likes basketball too. Problem is, he doesn't have a basketball ring in his court anymore. Put 1 and 1 together...problem solved! I go to his house once in a while and play ball.

We started attending the artists' den meetings and other conventions together, chatting late at night (he didn't have a cellphone then), and started asking me to dinner at the nearest chowking, jollibee and Mcdo.

I had my reservations of having him as a boyfriend, but later gave in anyway. What the heck...In a bus ride to megamall on June 28, 2003, we declared ourselves boyfriend and girlfriend.

hehehe..i hope that was ok.

oops..i missed this one.

irritants...impatient people (though i used to be impatient too. I try to stretch my patience now as much as i could). Boastful airheads. Captain Barbel. hehehehe...
what do you call those songs?...the one Lito Camo writes? The ones those sexy gal and guy groups sing. those and another type of dance music that is quite annoying. They sure are running out of good song ideas.

so far that's all i could think of. Hai!

hmm...officially Jon is my first and last
There was a guy before Jon back in college, but we never declared ourselves as a steady couple because I was not allowed by my mom to have a boyfriend. Well, he turned out to be a jerk in the end anyway. so that's that. hehehe.

One time big time:

If you weren't doing comics, what would you be doing?
Who do you think will will Amazing Race Asia?
How do you find Carpool, on a scale of 1 to 10?
Garfield or Odie?
Any plans on how to market and publicize Carpool any more than you're doing now?
Why does your character look like a teenager among middle-aged men?
Wedding bells in your near future?
Why didn't I get royalties for appearing in Carpool (albiet in the book nga lang)?
Your take on the local comic book industry?

And last...

Are you happy with your achievements at this point?

heavy metal...used to like it back in high school. am done with that phase.

no watch??!!! as long as i have my cellphone (which has a clock) I'll live
Did you know that the first thing i had bought for me after our house burned down was a wrist watch? I'd go crazy without knowing the time.

Teaching. My first ambition was to be a teacher. My second choice for a course was teaching.

Hmm...Koreans or Japs or chinese?...I dunno if the Pinoy representatives would win. They can have a good shot at it but i have doubts that they would win. Possibly 5th place or something.

Carpool First Trip would be a 10 . The 2nd carpool would be a 7 because I felt it was too rushed plus the repeating 2 strips which is a major bummer.

Garfield!!! I love cats more than dogs. hehehe

Publicity...It would really need full time attention. I can't do that when i have office work. I could ask someone to help, but i don't know anyone who could. And i don't have anything to pay anyone if they'd ask to be paid for their services.

fact: I do look like a teenager and my guys look like middle aged men

wedding bells coming soon

royalties?...uhm...i asked L if i could use your character and there were no talks of royalties. hehehe...take it up with L.

The comics industry now...It still saddens me when people comment that the industry is dead when we try our best to keep it moving. We are aware that it's not that big, but we are happy that it still has a pulse. It is frustrating how know it alls, so-called experts, conventional-closed minded people try to bring other artists down. Am happy to be part of the Artists' Den and what we've accomplished so far. I just hope people would really start working together rather than just ranting and competing with each other.

accomplishments, yes! I haven't reached 30 and I've already fulfilled my ambitions as a kid - to be a teacher and to be a cartoonist...and more! I just live a day at a time now.

Didn't know your house burned down. Thanks for sharing that bit of trivia about your wrist watch. Maybe you could show it to us sometime.

More questions

Where were you born?

Why did your parents name you Sherry Lee?

You've been to Singapore thrice. What other countries would you like to visit?

In your post you mentioned you were an instructor. What and where did you teach? Please let us know.

We're up against Southeast Asians. Due to that, I'd say we have a good chance, but who knows?

born in Quezon City - Capitol Medical Center at sometime 9 in the morning.

Sherry is a type of wine. My mom says my dad was intoxicated when they made me ^^;.... Lee means "joy". Both me and my sis have Lee for second names.

Am actually, believe it or not, a Sunday School Teacher at our church in Quezon City for the past 14 years. I started teaching on Sundays when I was in 2nd year high school. I still teach but not so often.

hehehe..no biggie 'bout our house getting burned down. It brought us better stuff afterwards.
